News: Bladen County Growing / New Counties
Rev. Jason Williams, North Carolina State Coordinator for School Ministries, moved to Bladen County in February 2010 to serve as Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church. He soon began laying the groundwork for Released Time Bible Education (RTBE) in Bladen County. He met with local school board members and community leaders to present the program and received positive feedback and community support—particularly from the Bladen Baptist Association. Rev. Williams then presented a request to the Bladen County School Board to establish Released Time Bible Education programs in the district and received approval to initiate Released Time Bible Education classes in January 2011.
School Ministries of Bladen County launched its first four Christian Released Time classroom locations in North Carolina during 2011 with great success and added two more Released Time locations during 2012. The program now enrolls nearly 700 students per semester. Students are eager to learn about Jesus, and the program has inspired many professions of faith. The plan in progress is to serve ten primary and middle schools in the region.
Rev. Williams currently serves as Senior Pastor of Galeed Baptist Church in Bladen County and is working with its members and Christian representatives in the area to start Released Time programs in another North Carolina county. The long range goal of School Ministries of Bladen County is to establish Released Time Bible Education in every county in North Carolina—in fulfillment of Acts 1:8.
The mission of School Ministries in North Carolina is to provide devotional Bible instruction to students of all ages during the school day. It is a voluntary program that uses no tax dollars, is conducted off-campus, and requires parental permission.
North Carolina School Ministries currently is developing a team of dedicated Christians from across the state to build relationships with other Christian leaders from churches, businesses and communities in order to initiate Released Time ministry programs across the state. As God leads and provides, four new programs will be started each year.
School Ministries in North Carolina will assist in the start-up of Released Time programs by providing information and on-site assistance to start and operate programs in both a legal and Christ-like way through the leadership of God's Word, legal counsel, documents and years of practical experience.
School Ministries in North Carolina started in Monroe, NC, in March of 2009 as a result of the vision of Rev. Jason Williams. He has been involved in Released Time ministries in various ways since 2001. He started teaching Bible classes for Released Time in Spartanburg County, SC, School District Two in 2001 while also serving as Senior Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church in Campobello, SC.
Rev. Williams lived in Jacksonville, FL, from 2005 to 2008 where he served as a missionary committed to initiating state-wide Released Time Bible Education programs in Florida. After laying the foundation for Released Time and gaining approval for its first program, he moved to Monroe, NC, to serve on the staff of West Monroe Baptist Church and to begin working for the establishment of Released Time programs in that state. Currently, he serves as Pastor of Bethel Bible Church in Dublin, NC. He has an Associate degree in Christian Ministries from Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute and a Bachelor degree in religion from Liberty University. Jason is married to Jessica Williams and they have three children, Caleb, Karis, and Chase.
